About Me
Talofa lo'u igoa o Gabi
Sprint phenom, Gabi Fa'amausili hails from Auckland, of Samoan heritage. In 2013 she became Junior World Champion in the 50m Backstroke (28.64). But it was in 2015 when she put the sprinting universe on notice setting a Junior World Record in the 50m Backstroke at the World Junior Championships (27.81).
Gabi earned a full scholarship to the University of Georgia and took up a place on their NCAA Divison I swim & dive team roster. Her NCAA career saw Gabi become a First Team All-American.
One of the most talented swimmers you'll ever see, "Gabs" returned to Aotearoa in 2023 and is already firing up for her proper return to long course racing this season.

Gabi defends her crown and wins gold setting a new Junior World Record in the Women's 50m Backstroke at the FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in Singapore. (27.81)
2017
Budapest
Gabi makes her senior international debut becoming Aquablack #252 at the 2017 FINA World Championships (LC) in Budapest, Hungary.
2023
Auckland
Gabi returns to Aotearoa, winning gold in the Women's 50m Back at New Zealand Championships (LC).

Where did you swim as a junior?
I swam in Auckland starting at Laser MT Eden, then Roskill, before ending up at United Swim Club with Igor Polianski as my coach.

Your highlight career moment?
Winning back to back Junior World 50m Backstroke titles and breaking the Junior World Record as well as the New Zealand Record was super special.

Be your authentic self, bring your own personality and charisma to the sport.

Unwinding, either in nature or a yoga studio.
